"Every boot that marched in battle and every uniform stained with blood will be destroyed and thrown into the fire. This will happen when the special child is born. God will give us a son who will be responsible for leading the people. His name will be Wonderful Counselor, Powerful God, Father Who Lives Forever, Prince of Peace.” - Isaiah 9:5-6 (ERV)
On the eve of Christmas during World War 1 in 1914, the soldiers were wondering whether or not the next day would bring another round of fightings and killings. That was not to be. On Christmas Day, the enemies behaved like brothers. One of the British soldiers placed a signpost with the inscription "Merry Christmas" on their trenches as they sang the Christmas carol. On seeing this, the enemy soldiers - the Germans, started to sing carol songs on their own trenches as well. Later on, both parties came out of their trenches unarmed and celebrated the Christmas together. They exchanged pleasantries and sang the carol together even though some of the senior officers on each side unsuccessfully tried to stop their troops from singing and dancing with the enemy on a supposed battleground. The Soldiers exchanged souvenirs as they celebrated peacefully on that day. They even played soccer and the spontaneous truce continued the next day as neither side was willing to fire the first shot. (Wikipedia)
There are many wonders in the world that are traceable to the season of Christmas. Some of such wonders include: how those visible or invisible swords and spears in the trenches of our lives were converted into plowshares and pruning hooks (Micah 4:3); how the cold war/conflict/enmity triggered by sin between God and man was resolved (Romans 5:10); and how the verdict of judgment and death passed on humanity in the garden of Eden was reversed to a message of goodwill, peace, and joy (Luke 2:14).
"At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God’s praises: Glory to God in the heavenly heights. Peace to all men and women on earth who pleases him." Luke 2:13-14 (MSG)
Beloved, what type of war or battle is going on secretly in the trenches of your body/home/business/office today? Who is dangling the swords of judgment and condemnation at you? Who is beating the drums of agony, pain, hardship, stagnation in the corridor and sitting room of your destiny? It's time to engage the wonder-working power in the name of Jesus Christ (the Prince of Peace). It's time to surrender to Jesus and walk daily in the centre of His will. If you do, Jesus will speak peace to every storm in your life, body, home, career, and ministry. And in the mighty name of Jesus, those silent/cold wars of sickness, stagnation, barrenness, failure striving in your life shall cease completely (Psalms 46:9). As the Lord lives, every power beating the battle drums of untold hardship, pains and shame in the trenches of your life shall be deleted before this year's Christmas season is over in Jesus name. Amen.
In 1739, God inspired Charles Wesley to compose one of the best Christmas hymn ever written. This hymn describes the true wonder of the Christmas season in simple terms. Could you please, join the Angels to hail the Heavenly Prince of Peace by singing this evergreen Christmas hymn below:
HARK, THE HERALD ANGELS SINGS by Charles Wesley
Hark! The herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!”
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th’angelic host proclaim,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
Refrain:
Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King!”
Christ, by highest Heav’n adored;
Christ the everlasting Lord;
Late in time, behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin’s womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail th’incarnate Deity,
Pleased with us in flesh to dwell,
Jesus our Emmanuel.
Hail the heav’nly Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Ris’n with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
Born that man no more may die;
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
