UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY
HE HIDETH MY SOUL
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.
Refrain:
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.
With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine!
When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I'll shout with the millions on high.
Good day and God bless you.
Maranatha!

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling." - Psalms 91: 1, 4, 7, 9,10 (KJV)
Few days ago, while meditating on the above scripture - which is the 2019 prophetic scripture for us in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, I remembered the story of the captain of a submarine ship narrated below:
A submarine was being tested and had to remain submerged for many hours. When it eventually returned to the harbour, the captain of the submarine was asked, "How did the terrible storm last night affect you?" The captain looked at everyone in surprise and exclaimed, "Storm? We didn’t even know there was one because the submarine sailed deep down into cushion of the sea"
Beloved, the response of the captain above summarises the testimony that all those who geninuely put their trust in God will share throughout this year. In Psalms 91, God categorically affirms that He will jealously hide His children under His protective shadow where the storm of life (e.g. untimely death, disaster, sorrow, pain, accident, sickness etc) cannot reach them. The oceanographers called that safe place "the cushion of the sea" while God simply described it as "The Strong Tower" (Proverbs 18:10) or "The Cleft Of The Rock" (Exodus 33:21-23). The place is so safe that no harm can reach us nor any disaster come near our tent whenever we are abiding therein (Psalms 91:10). The waters beneath the place are never stirred or troubled by raging storm of life. What a safer place to be!
"You hide them in the safety of your presence from the plots of others; in a safe shelter you hide them from the insults of their enemies. Love the LORD , all his faithful people. The LORD protects the faithful, but punishes the proud as they deserve. Be strong, be courageous, all you that hope in the LORD." - Psalms 31:20, 23 -24 (GNB)
Friends, are you currently sailing on any stormy sea financially, maritally, physically, academically, emotionally? Are you surrounded by some hungry sharks? Please let not your heart be troubled by the roaring of those stormy seas and wild beast therein. Rather, put your trust in God and He will be your shield against every storm of life till you see Christ in Glory. No matter how loud the sound of terror and agony may be all over the world this year, your destiny will remain unruffled and God will keep you in perfect peace. Irrespective of the negative news and evidences around us today, If God is truly your shelter, your entire family will sail/swim in glory throughout this year like everyone in that submarine above. And as long as you remain under the shadow of the Almighty, no plague can come near your dwelling because God will hide you and your household securely in the cleft of the rock (cushion of the sea) and cover you protectively with his hand as He did to Moses. (Exodus 33:21-23)
"He hideth my soul" is the title of a wonderful hymn that highlights some of the benefits of taking refuge under the shadow of the Almighty. The hymn was composed by the renowned hymnist Fanny J. Crosby in 1890. As we trust God to hide us physically, maritally, financially, materially and spiritually from every turbulent storm of economic hardship, sickness, untimely death, afflictions and sorrow etc, let us make the wordings of this powerful hymn below be our prayer focus throughout this week.
HE HIDETH MY SOUL
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.
Refrain:
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.
With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine!
When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I'll shout with the millions on high.
My prayer for you and my humble self this week is that we shall enjoy a turbulence-free sail throughout this year and beyond. No matter the degree of turbulence on the sea (through insecurity, electoral violence, kidnapping, herdsmen attack, accidents, diseases etc) in the world and around us, we shall be preserved from them all. Before this year is over, we shall have many reasons to testify that God is truly our shield, refuge, strong tower and solid rock of defence. God will activate His covenant of divine insurance over us and indemnify us against any form of evil occurence throughout this year and beyond in Jesus name. And when the trumpet shall sound, we will rise to meet our Saviour in the sky.
Good day and God bless you.
Maranatha!
