"Thank him as you go through the gates into his temple. Praise him as you
stand in his temple yards. Thank him and praise him as he deserves!"
Psalms 100:4 (EASY)
There is a story of a man who went to Alexander the Great to ask for some
financial help. Alexander told the man to go to his treasurer and ask for
whatever he needed. Few minutes later, the treasurer went to Alexander and told
him he was hesitant to give the man what he asked for because he asked for an
enormous amount. Alexander replied, “Give him what he asked for, he has treated
me like a KING in his asking, and I shall be like a KING in my giving.”
One of the most potent force in the world is the power of prayer. God is always
eager to answer the prayer of His subjects. It is exciting to see God
responding positively to our requests in prayer. However, we must understand
that prayers are not answered because of our flawless grammar, deep show of
emotions or aggressiveness. God does not answer prayer on the basis of our
colour, age, height, location, exposure or qualification. All the prayers that
God answers are strictly based on some established prayer protocols that God
laid down in the scripture.
"One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of
his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his
disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be
your name, your kingdom come"- Luke 11:1-2 (NIV)
According to Luke 11:1-2, one of the established prayer protocol is the act of
paying homage to the King. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines
"homage" as expressing high regard to someone, showing respect
or attesting to the worth or influence of someone. As the King of all kings,
God expects all His subjects to approach His throne at all times with the
homage that is due to Him (Psalms 100:4).
As King of the whole universe, God loves to be eulogized and worshipped much
more than any earthly king. The act of paying homage to God is the easiest way
to open the floodgate of heaven for unprecedented outpour of victory, miracles,
signs and wonders.
God cannot resist requests or petitions that are thoroughly garnished with
ingredients of thanksgiving and praises served from a pure heart. Jesus Christ
demonstrated this profound truth by organising a short banquet of praise
service at the tomb of Lazarus (John 11:41). He chose to serve God his
favourite meal before discussing Lazarus' matter with Him. And instantly, God
commanded angels to send Lazarus back to life because Jesus had served the meal
that God could not reject. What an amazing testimony!
Beloved, how have you being treating the King of kings? Have you been issuing
command to Him as if He is your slave? Or you have been paying homage to Him.
If you have been paying homage to God, please keep it up. The treasurer of
heaven will soon visit your home to deliver those much awaited package of good
news and joy you have been asking for. As the Lord lives, before this
year is over, all your secret requests will soon become open testimonies that
will draw many souls into His kingdom.
One powerful hymn that re-echoes the act of paying homage to God is titled
"Awake, Ye Saints to Praise Your King":
AWAKE, YE SAINTS TO PRAISE YOUR KING By Isaac Watts (1674 - 1748)
Awake, ye saints; to praise your king
Your sweetest passions raise,
Your pious pleasure, while you sing,
Increasing with the praise.
Great is the Lord, and works unknown
Are His divine employ;
But still His saints are near His throne,
His treasure and His joy.
O nations, know thy living God,
Serve Him with faith and fear;
He makes thy churches His abode,
And claims thine honors there.
May God kindly in our heart fresh fire of praise that will never quench until we reached the golden shore above in Jesus name.
Maranatha!
