No one is indispensable in God's agenda on earth. Jesus Christ affirms this salient truth during His triumphant entry into Jerusalem. According to Him, inanimate or lifeless objects can even take the place of man in the agenda of God on earth if the need arises (Luke 19:40). Hence, no one can hold God to ransom.
A yoruba proverb that corroborates this important teaching of Jesus Christ is:
"Bí ọkọ̀ kan ò re Ejìnrìn, ẹgbẹgbẹ̀rún rẹ̀ á lọ". Meaning: "If one bus won't go to Ejinrin town, thousands of others would go"
Indeed, nobody is capable of holding God to ransom. No one is irreplaceable or indispensable in the hands of God. In fact, the Almighty God can be compared to a football coach who has several players on the reserve bench waiting to play. Therefore, whenever a player refuses to play as expected, God only beckons to any of the substitutes sitting on the reserve bench to take over. This was exactly what happened when the Raven refused to go on errand for God in the new beginning on earth. This bird thought that without her the re-settlement agenda of God for man would suffer a major setback. But she was completely wrong. Surprisingly, instead of begging the Raven, God just sent a signal to a dove on His reserve bench to go and do His bidding.
This reminds me of the story of a Sunday School teacher that God told to preach inside a commercial bus on his way to work. The young man refused and a few minutes later, a lady whose command of English was not too good preached and two people got saved in the bus. The Sunday School teacher felt so bad that he missed a great opportunity.
Beloved, no one can hold God to ransom. If those who are well read and eloquent refuse to do the Lord's bidding, He will use the illiterate. If those who are physically strong refuse to go for Christ, God can send the physically challenged. If the youth and young adult ignores the rescue mandate, God will look for aged ones to rescue hell bound souls. Yes, the Ravens cannot hold God to ransom.
Unfortunately, we still have many Ravens around us today. I hope you are not one of them? Do you see your kingdom duties as a burden or as a privilege? Please remember that God's verdict of eviction for the Ravens has not changed. According to Luke 13:6-7, His verdict is to uproot all the Ravens occupying the available spaces in the kingdom so that there will be enough rooms for the Doves to manifest. I hope you have not been uprooted already.
Beloved, please don't take God for granted like the Raven this year. Don't push God to the point that He will consider replacing your mighty Saul with a small David. Grab every opportunity you have to serve God this year with both hands. Be passionate and intentional about your service to God and humanity. Never forget that you are not indispensable in the hands of God. Yes, Noah can replace your Raven with a Ðove who will serve diligently and faithfully.
Good day, Happy New Month & God bless.
Maranatha!
