MAKING MAXIMUM PROFIT IN LIFE

''Give freely and spontaneously. Don’t have a stingy heart. The way you handle matters like this triggers God, your God’s blessing, in everything you do, all your work and ventures. There are always going to be poor and needy people among you. So I command you: Always be generous, open purses and hands, give to your neighbors in trouble, your poor and hurting neighbors" - Deuteronomy 15:10-11 (MSG)

Once upon a time, a greedy rich man hired a great mathematician. The rich man wanted the mathematician to find the best way for him to make the greatest profit in everything he did. The rich man had built a huge safe and his greatest dream was to fill it with gold. The mathematician was shut away for months in his study, before he finally appeared at the rich man’s house, with a big smile on his face: “I found it!” he said, “I have discovered the best way to make maximum profit in life.”

 The rich man was going on a long journey the next day and didn’t have time to listen. He promised the mathematician he would pay him double his wages if he would take charge of the business while he was away and put the new method into practice. Excited by his new discovery, the mathematician was delighted to accept. When the rich man returned months later, he discovered all his possessions were gone. Furious, he went to ask for an explanation from the mathematician. The mathematician calmly told him what he had done. He had given everything away to people.

The rich man couldn’t believe it, but the mathematician explained it. “For months, I analyzed how a rich man could gain the maximum profit, but what I could do was always limited. There’s a limit to how much one man can do by himself. Then I understood that the key was that many people could help us to achieve the aim. So the conclusion was that helping others was the best way to get maximum profit in life” Disappointed and furious, the greedy man stormed off, desperate at having lost everything to the hare-brained schemes of the stupid mathematician.

However, while he was walking away disconsolately, several neighbours ran over, worried about him. All of them had been helped when the mathematician shared out the rich man’s fortune. They felt so grateful to him that they offered him the hospitality of their houses and anything special the rich man might need. Over the next few days, he saw the full result of what the mathematician had calculated. Wherever he went, he was received with great honour and everyone was willing to help him in whatever way they could.

In this way, he managed to quickly set up flourishing businesses, but this time he followed the brilliant mathematician’s advice. No longer did he keep his riches in a safe, or anything like it. Instead, he shared out his fortune among a hundred friends, whose hearts he had converted into the safest, most grateful, and fruitful organized safes.

The above story illustrates the method the disciples used in Acts 2: 44-47 to trigger great profit in the early church. They were so smart to know that the safest place on earth is not the bank but the hands and hearts of men. They shared what they had with everyone instead of keeping it away in their safes. The disciples simply organised the first ''Jesus Supermarket'' in the church so that many peoples' needs can be met. The question is why did they organize such a program? I believe they knew that generosity unleashes ceaseless flow of blessings while stinginess is a demon supervising the agenda of poverty. This must have prompted God to warn the Israelites about guiding their hearts jealousy against the invasion of the demon of stinginess and selfishness in their midst (Deuteronomy 15:10-12).

Beloved, in what ways has God blessed you this year? Have you been tight-fisted in sharing what you have? When was the last time you helped the needy around you? How secure are those many huge safes you have built for yourself and your household? Before you attempt to answer these questions, please meditate on this thought-provoking poem below:

THING GOD WILL NOT ASK (Author Unknown)

God won't ask what kind of car you drove;

He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have transportation.

God won't ask the square footage of your house;

He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

God won't ask about the clothes you had in your closet;

He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.

God won't ask what your highest salary was;

He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.

God won't ask what your job title was;

He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of our ability.

God won't ask how many friends you had;

He'll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.

God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived;

He'll ask how you treated your neighbors.

God won't ask about the color of your skin;

He'll ask about the content of your character.

God won't ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation;

He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven and not to the gates of Hell.

Dear friend, what will be your response to the questions that God will ask you when you finally leave this world. If Jesus Christ returns today, are you sure you will not be a big disappointment to Heaven? Please examine your heart closely and be ready to do the needful henceforth.

In case you are not yet born again or you are a backslider, the Gates of Hell is beckoning you. To escape the horrible pains in Hell, you must embrace the gift of salvation that Jesus Christ bought for us with His precious blood. Please do it now since there is no repentance in the grave (Hebrews 9:27).

Good day, Merry Christmas, and a prosperous new year in advance.

Maranatha!

THE GALL OF BITTERNESS

"For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity."- Acts 8:23 (KJV)

"For I see that you're being poisoned by bitterness and you're a prisoner of wickedness!" Acts 8:23 (ISV)

In his book "None of these diseases", S.I. McMillen wrote:- "The moment I start hating a man, I become his slave. The man I hate bounds me wherever I go. I can't escape his tyrannical grasp on my mind. The man I hate may be many miles from my bedroom, but, more cruel than any slave driver, he whips my thoughts into such a frenzy that my innerspring mattress becomes a rack of torture. The lowliest of the serfs can sleep, but not I. I must acknowledge that I am a slave to every man whom I pour the vials of my wrath".

Bitterness is a plantation of trouble and an orchard of defilement (Hebrews 12:15). The gardener of that farmland is a terrible slave driver that must be avoided like a plague. He is a latent murderer with a proven track record (1 John 3:15). This slave driver sponsored the first murder case in the world. The callous gardener drove Cain to kill his only brother - Abel when the floor light of the field had been switched off (Genesis 4:5-8). That callous act made God to pronounce an irreversible curse on Cain (Genesis 4:11-13).

"Those who hate others are murderers, and you know that murderers do not have eternal life in them" - 1 John 3:15 (GNT)

Friends, it is unfortunate that many people are in prison of bitterness and wickedness today. The gall of bitterness has released hatred into their souls against those who offended them. As prisoners of bitterness, they have been charged with murder and are now being tortured as one. Are you in the prison of bitterness? As the gall of bitterness poisoned your soul? I urge you to please set yourself free before it is too late. No matter the gravity of their offenses against you, please forgive and release them from your heart. Do not let the sun go down upon your wrath again (Ephesians 4:26, 32), and always make a conscious effort to make peace with everyone (Hebrews 12:14). However, this may be an herculean task if you have not met the Prince of Peace. Therefore, I urge you to please surrender or rededicate your life to Jesus Christ today. If you do, you will be empowered to walk gallantly out of that terrible prison of bitterness and resentment.

One very powerful poem that summarises the gall of bitterness described in Acts 8:23 is titled "Anger and Bitterness":

ANGER AND BITTERNESS By Dan Thompson

Anger and Bitterness is a sin

That destroys a person from within

It robs a person of life

And delivers nothing but strife

Anger and Bitterness is cancer that will spread

Until inside that person is spiritually dead

Besides affecting the soul it will affect the body too

There have been studies to prove what I say is true

Now the Lord warns us from this to stay away

So from Him, we will not stray

Anger will end a friendship

Even those that have survived many a hardship

Anger and Bitterness can make a person Vindictive be

Blinding them so the truth they cannot see

It really is sad to watch the path

That leads the person to even more wrath

I pray that the Holy Spirit will carry out a spiritual cholecystectomy procedure (gallbladder removal surgery) in us before this day is over. Through this procedure, may God evacuate every orchard of defilement, the poison of bitterness and cancer of unforgiveness ravaging many souls in Jesus' name.  Amen

THE REAL Vs THE FAKE

“If the world hates you, remember that they hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as it loves its own people. But I have chosen you to be different from those in the world. So you don’t belong to the world, and that is why the world hates you. “Remember the lesson I told you: Servants are not greater than their master. If people treated me badly, they will treat you badly too.." John 15:18-20 (ERV)

Several years ago, the queen of Sheba visited King Solomon to test his wisdom. She brought artificial flowers so perfectly formed that no human eye could detect them from real flowers. She put them in a vase on Solomon’s table, next to his flowers. As he came in, the queen of Sheba said, “King Solomon, you are the wisest man in the world. Tell me without touching these flowers, which are real and which are artificial'' King Solomon studied the flowers for a long time and spoke nothing, until finally, he said, “Open the windows and let the bees come in.” (When Religion Becomes Real by Brooks Ramsey)

One of the challenges in our world today is how to identify the real from the fake. The number of fake things in circulation have outnumbered the real ones. For instance, there are more fake drugs, fake news, fake friends, fake believers, fake pastors, fake law enforcement agents, fake engineers etc. in our generation more than ever before. It is now becoming more and more difficult to identify the genuine ones from the fake.

However, in John 15:18-20, Jesus Christ gave us a simple but very profound guideline for resolving this crucial matter. His advice clearly corroborates the response of king Solomon in the story above. Jesus affirms that the easiest way to identify a real flower is to check whether it attracts bees or not. Persecution is a bee that can easily distinguish true Christians from fake ones. Only those who are genuine followers of Christ attract the bees of persecution (2 Timothy 3:12).

''Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.'' - 2 Tim 3:12

Friends, is the flower of your career, marriage, and ministry attracting bees of persecution? Are you being treated badly or unfairly for no reason? Then, it is most likely that you are one of the few real flowers or genuine ones in this generation. Obviously, it is an indication that you are still walking on the narrow path and growing in the likeness of our master - Jesus Christ. So, please count it all joy that your life is attracting bees (James 1:2). Keep asking God for grace to endure the sting of the bees patiently until you see Christ in glory (1 Corinthian 4:12, James 1:12).

"..When people abuse and insult us, we respond with a blessing, and when severely persecuted, we endure it with patience. When we are slandered incessantly, we always answer gently, ready to reconcile.." - 1 Corinthian 4:12-13 (TPT)

Friends, are the bees of persecution far from you? Please don't be excited about it yet. This may be a strong indication that you have formed an alliance with the prince of bees (the god of this world). Don't you know that the devil doesn't fight his own people? Bees are not coming towards you because you are one of his artificial or fake flowers in this generation. Therefore, you should be very worried and concerned about this bitter truth. But you can become one of the few real ones if you genuinely repent and surrender your life to Jesus Christ. Please do it now.

One hymn that re-echoes an important decision anyone who wants to become real/genuine flower must make on earth is titled "I Have Decided to follow Jesus".

I HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW JESUS (Sadhu Sundar Singh)

I have decided to follow Jesus;

I have decided to follow Jesus;

I have decided to follow Jesus;

no turning back, no turning back.

Though none go with me, I still will follow;

though none go with me, I still will follow;

though none go with me, I still will follow;

no turning back, no turning back.

The world behind me, the cross before me;

the world behind me, the cross before me,

the world behind me, the cross before me;

no turning back, no turning back.

My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;

My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;

My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;

No turning back, no turning back.

Will you decide now to follow Jesus?

Will you decide now to follow Jesus?

Will you decide now to follow Jesus?

No turning back, no turning back.

May God uphold all the real Christians to withstand the sting of bees till Christ returns to take them home. And may all the fake ones be real by deciding to follow Jesus before it will be too late, Amen.

THE GREATEST SELFLESS ACT

''I, the Son of Man, came to look for people who are far away from God. They are in danger and I have come to save them'' - Luke 19:10 (EASY)

During a Military training, the drill instructor threw a stone amongst the recruits and shouted, "Grenade!" The trainees immediately turned and hit the ground. Then, the instructor said "No hero among you. You should have jumped on the grenade to save others?"

The drill instructor's comment above gives a simple insight into what triggered the greatest selfless act in the history of humanity; God ordered His only Son to jump on the grenade that was meant to destroy the human race. Hmm! What a selfless act!

In Genesis 3:1-19, a grenade was thrown into the world when man erred in the garden of Eden. The grenade was powered to plunge man into untold agony eternally. Obviously, man was completely helpless until God finally came to his rescue. God's only begotten Son was sent into the world to jump on the grenade and rescue man from destruction (John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 1:10)

''He delivered us from such a deadly peril, ... On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again''- 2 Corinthians 1:10

Over 2000 years ago, that cruel grenade eventually detonated on the cross of Calvary (Matthew 27:50). The blood of the Son of God who knew no sin was shed for the remission of the sins of the whole human race (Ephesians 1:7). The ultimate price for the redemption of man was paid on that fateful day. And by that singular act of God's selflessness, the narrative of man was completely changed for the better! Glory be to God!

Friends, Jesus Christ has stepped on that grenade of sin, death, and judgment for you. He took your place on that old rugged cross and paid for your emancipation with His precious blood. So, you don't need to fear those grenades again. Just align yourself with the Son of God who came to step upon the grenade for you. This is the wisest decision anyone can make. Please make this decision now!

Beloved, are you already saved? Then, you should be super excited and passionately take advantage of every opportunity you have to tell everyone about this story of His selfless act.  Please tell others about the saviour who rescued your soul from the grenade of death and eternal agony.

One simple hymn that describes how Jesus stepped on that terrible grenade is titled: "Jesus Came To Save".

JESUS CAME TO SAVE By Harriet E. Jones

1. Sing the joyful news again

Jesus came to save!

O repeat the glad refrain

Jesus came to save!

Came to cleanse each guilty soul

Came to make the wounded whole:

Came to comfort and control

Jesus came to save!

2. Sing the story o'er and o'er

Jesus came to save!

Sound his praise from shore to shore

Jesus came to save!

Came to succor in distress;

Came the weary ones to bless:

Came to clothe in righteousness

Jesus came to save!

3. Sweetest story ever sung

Jesus came to save!

Praise his name with heart and tongue

Jesus came to save!

Came to lead from byways cold,

Lost ones to his shelt'ring fold:

All its beauty to behold

Jesus came to save!

4. Glory, glory be to God

Jesus came to save!

Spread the wondrous news abroad

Jesus came to save!

Left his shining home above,

All his mighty pow'r to prove:

Just because his name is love

Jesus came to save!

May God rescue everyone who are still a victim of grenades on the road of life before it will be too late in Jesus name, Amen

Good day and God bless.

Maranatha!

THE INSENSITIVE SOULS ON DUTY

''Then an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. He said, “Teacher, what must I do to get eternal life?.” -Luke 10:25‭ (ERV)

There is a story of a traffic control officer who spotted a car parked illegally on the highway. Unknown to him, the driver of the car had been attacked and was already dead. Without looking at the driver, the officer issued a ticket, placed it on the dashboard, and walked away.

In Luke 10:25-37, Jesus Christ spoke about the issue of insensitive souls on duty while responding to a question asked by an expert in Jewish religious law. From Christ's response, at least two out of every three believers on duty on earth are insensitive to the plight of the helpless ones around them. The pitiable conditions of dead and wounded souls matching recklessly to eternity without Christ on daily basis does not move/bother them. Instead of having compassion like Jesus Christ, they issue tickets of condemnation and judgment to unbelievers/ backsliders and walk away without showing remorse. This is quite unfortunate!

Beloved, many insensitive souls (believers) are on duty today. Most of them may even have impressive job titles or ordination status like priests, levites, ministers, deacons etc but they are heartless, callous or inhumane in their disposition toward wounded souls on earth. To this set of people, evangelism and follow-up are not priorities in their walk with God. They seem to have forgotten the repercussions of disobeying the rescue mandate given to the disciples by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19.

Friends, there are three categories of people on earth: the wounded souls, the living but sensitive souls and the living but insensitive souls. Which category do you belong to? If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, then, you are among the first category. Therefore, I urge you to please repent and confess your sins now. However, if you are among the living but insensitive souls, please cry to God to have mercy on you and revive you today.

One hymn that summaries Jesus Christ's response to the question asked by that Jewish law religious expert in Luke 10:25-37 is titled ''Does Anyone Care?"

Does Anyone Care? (Author unknown)

1.  I was going down

     From Jerusalem to Jericho,

     Towards that cursed town,

     Exchanging peace for pain and sorrow.

          Then the robbers came

          Stripped me and beat me, left me half dead.

          Stuck here, bruised and lame

          Will this wretched road be my deathbed?

     Can somebody help me?

     I’m hurting! I’m dying! Does anyone care?

     I have an urgent need!

     But sadly it seems that no one is aware.

2.  Wait, a priest I see!

     Descending like me. My case he’ll claim!

     He passes by me,

     Then comes a Levite and does the same.

          I thought they would help me!

         They seemed to serve God and to honor His name.

         Religion is empty!

         It cannot heal me. All my wounds still remain.

3. A Samaritan

   Comes upon me and observes my plight.

   Moved with compassion

   He treats my wounds, binding them just right.

       Lord Jesus You found me!

       You poured oil and wine on my wounds, them to heal!

       You put me on Your beast!

       At last! Here is kindness and tenderness real.

4. Now I’m in the inn,

    The church, with all those under Your care.

    And now I begin

    To find some others still in despair.

        Lord, bring in more wounded!

        Those without the Spirit and the life divine.

        That they could be added,

        And at Your return, the same care You would find.

May God revive every insensitive soul in this generation and use them mightily to bring in many wounded/dead souls into His Inn in Jesus name, Amen.

On behalf of my esteemed father in the Lord, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, I want to invite you to the November 2022 Holy Ghost service. Date: Friday - Nov 4, 2022. Theme: LET IT RAIN. Time: 7pm. Venue: Redemption City, Nigeria.

THE SINNER'S PENSION

"Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death.."- Romans 6:23 (MSG)

A pension is a retirement fund for an employee paid by the employer, employee, or both, with the employer usually covering the largest percentage of contributions made. When the employee retires, he/she is paid in an annuity calculated by the terms of the pension (Bankrate).

By default, life pays pension to every man upon retirement from this world. However, the type of pension payable to an individual is a function of his/her walk with God on earth. This implies that the pension payable to sinners cannot be the same as that payable to devoted believers and disciples of Christ.

In Romans 6:23, God states categorically that the pension sinners will receive will be a very terrible one. The pension of sin is second death which is eternal separation from God. This pension automatically attracts great pain and untold eternal agony (Revelation 21:8).

Satan is the Group Managing Director of the Sinner's Pension Fund. He is a wicked pension fund administrator and custodian who never defaults. He actually proved this point to everyone in Israel several years ago with the life of Absalom.

"They threw Absalom’s body into a deep pit in the forest and piled a great heap of stones over it. And all Israel fled to their homes. During his lifetime, Absalom had built a monument to himself in the King’s Valley,..." 2 Samuel 18:17-18 (NLT)

When Absalom retired, he received a terrible pension from his employer. His retirement (funeral service) was a very strange one. As soon as the service began, that wicked pension fund administrator suddenly showed up with Absalom's entitlements of shame and disgrace. So, instead of being laid to rest in honour beneath the shadows of a noble pile as a prince, his mangled body was hurled in dishonour into a pit in the forest and covered with stones hurriedly. Sin succeeded in organising a very shameful funeral service for him and his funeral orations were not pleasant at all. It was very obvious that Absalom himself was the one that dugged the grave of shame and designed the monument of everlasting pains where his body was eventually thrown into.

Unfortunately, many people in this generation are still working very hard for sin like Absalom. They think it is unwise to live a holy life, to be true hearted and God fearing. They passionately crave for and enjoyed the pleasure of sin without thinking about what the end will be.

Friends, I hope you are not one of them. Hope you are not living daily without the end in view. Please don't ever forget that the pension of sin is sure and often very terrible. Sin never defaults. So, please be careful how you live so that you will not dig grave of death and everlasting sorrow for yourself like Absalom. More importantly, please make your way right with God today so that you will not end your journey on earth like Absalom.

''I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done''- Eccl 8:10

One special hymn that summaries the pension of horror and agony that sinners will receive after leaving the world is titled "The Sinner's Burial'':

THE SINNER’S BURIAL By Horatius Bonar 1808–1889

 Wrapt in a Christless shroud,

He sleeps the Christless sleep;

Above him, the eternal cloud,

Beneath, the fiery deep.

Laid in a Christless tomb,

There, bound with felon-chain,

He waits the terrors of his doom,

The judgment and the pain.

O Christless shroud, how cold,

How dark, O Christless tomb!

O grief that never can grow old,

O endless, hopeless doom!

O Christless sleep, how sad!

What waking shalt thou know?

For thee no star, no dawning glad,

Only the lasting woe!

To rocks and hills in vain

Shall be the sinner’s call;

O day of wrath, and death and pain,

The lost soul’s funeral!

O Christless soul, awake,

Ere thy last sleep begin!

O Christ, the sleeper's slumbers break,

Burst thou the bands of sin!

May God deliver us from the wicked grip of sin and its evil pension fund administrator so that we will not end our journey on earth with pain and agony like Absalom in Jesus name, Amen.

Good day and God bless you.

Maranatha!

THE FLOATING WOOD AND CROCODILE

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again" - John 3:3 & 7

A few days ago, while crossing the Third Mainland bridge, the logs of wood floating on the river caught my attention. The woods must have been cleverly arranged and joined together in a systematic order to be able to float on the river. The colour of the wood has gradually changed from reddish brown to black. While reflecting on that amazing sight, I remembered this African proverb below:-

"No matter how long a log stays in the water, it does not become a crocodile"- (Congolese proverb)

One of the greatest challenge today is that many woods are now claiming to be crocodiles. But can a wood really become a crocodile by staying long in water? The answer is a capital "NO". The truth is, it does not matter how long a log of wood floats on water, it can never become a crocodile. Though, the colour of a wood may change to that of a crocodile but a wood will always remain a wood forever.

In John 3:1-7, Jesus Christ corroborates this salient truth in his conversation with Nicodemus, a prominent Jewish religious leader. Jesus told him emphatically that being religious is not a prerequisite for making heaven. It is possible to be visible in church like a log of wood and yet one's name is not in the Lamb's book of life (Rev 21:27). Also, occupying a privileged position and obtaining high ordination status are not automatic tickets into the kingdom of God. Unfortunately, many people are floating like crocodiles in the church today with some of these credentials but they are not genuinely saved. They are ordinary floating wood pretending to be real crocodiles in the river of faith (Matthew 7:23). What a height of deception!

Beloved, are you a log of wood pretending to be a crocodile? No matter how long you have succeeded in deceiving everyone that you are a child of God, you cannot become one except you genuinely surrender to the Lord Jesus. The length of years you have been in church is inconsequential if you are not genuinely saved. The fact that your wood can float like a crocodile in water does not make you a crocodile. Your charisma, affluence, talents, etc cannot turn wood to crocodile in God's sight. Therefore, God is urging you to stop floating in the river of religion but run to Calvary for the power to become the sons of God (John 1:12). Please make that great decision today and you will never regret that you did.

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name" - John 1:12

"Ye Must Be Born Again" is the title of a special hymn that reiterates Christ's response to Nicodemus in John 3:1-7.

YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN By William T. Sleeper

 1. A ruler once came to Jesus by night

To ask Him the way of salvation and light;

The Master made answer in words true and plain,

"Ye must be born again."

Refrain:

"Ye must be born again,

Ye must be born again;

I verily, verily say unto thee,

Ye must be born again."

2. Ye children of men, attend to the word

So solemnly uttered by Jesus the Lord;

And let not this message to you be in vain,

"Ye must be born again."

3. O ye who would enter that glorious rest,

And sing with the ransomed the song of the blest;

The life everlasting if ye would obtain,

"Ye must be born again."

4. A dear one in heaven thy heart yearns to see,

At the beautiful gate may be watching for thee;

Then list to the note of this solemn refrain,

"Ye must be born again."

May God drive out the spirit of religion in His church and replace it with real hunger and thirst for genuine repentance/salvation in Jesus name, Amen.

Good day and God bless you.

Maranatha!

BEWARE OF THE COAL MINE

"Let your clothes be white all time, and let not oil be lacking on your head'' -Eccl 9:8

Several years ago, a woman dressed in daintily white gown went on excursion to a coal mine. Before stepping down into the mine, the woman asked an old miner whether she can wear her white dress into the mine. The old miner responded "Yes, madam, you may wear your white gown down there, but there is no assurance that you will return the same way you went in"

''Do not look for a person wearing white cloth where the palm-oil maker works'' is a Nigerian adage which means anyone that is clean must abstain from things that can defile. This adage corroborates the counsel of God in 2 Peter 2:11 and the old miner's comment above. One of the easiest way to make a shipwreck of one's destiny in life is by stepping into the coal mine of this world. There are many coal mines around us today that can easily stain our garments and truncate our journey to the city of gold (Heaven). The activities in those coal mines may even pass popular opinion poll on earth but in the light of eternity, they attract grave consequences.

The Bible records many instances of people who stepped into the coal mine with their daintily white apparel but they never returned the same way they went in. For example, Dinah wore her gorgeous white gown to fraternize with strange ladies and she returned polluted and defiled (Genesis 34:1-2). Samson got his white apparel of power and glory stained while sampling the laps of strange women in town. He went down into the valley of Sorek heavily anointed but returned drained and deformed (Judges 16:1-31). The prodigal son left his father's house dazzling but returned deflated and dejected (Luke 15:11-19). It is obvious that the repercussions for stepping into the coal mine of this world with ones white apparel has not been changed. According to Revelation 21:27, the punishment for defiling ones apparel is eternal separation from God.

Beloved, in this polluted world, there are still few people who have not defiled their white apparels with the stains from the coal mine of this world (Rev 3:4-5). Friends, are you one of those few people in this generation? Or have you soiled your white apparel? Have you being patronizing the valley of Sorek like Samson? Have you been defiling your soul with stains from those questionable coal mines you love to visit? What are those coal mine activities that you indulge in? Is it betting, drugs, alcohol, pornography, masturbation or fornication/adultery? Please repent now and the power in the purifying blood of Jesus Christ will keep you spotless till you reach the golden shore.

One hymn that reiterates the need to live daily with the consciousness of reaching the golden shore with undefiled apparel is titled " Let Your Garments Be Always White".

 LET YOUR GARMENTS BE ALWAYS WHITE  by Emma F. Fisk

 Are your garments always spotless?

Are they washed in Jesus' blood?

Do they always keep the cleansing

Of the purifying flood?

Do they never show the soiling

Of your sins upon their white?

Will they always bear the searching

Of the Holy Spirit's light?

Chorus:

         Let your garment be spotless,

         Always pure and bright;

        Thro' the precious blood of Jesus

         Keep them ever clean and white.

Let no anger soil their beauty,

Let no bitterness remain;

O be sure no trace of envy

Leaves upon your robes a stain.

Let no love of worldly pleasure

Cast unholy shadows there,

Fully cleanse them from the mildews

Of anxiety and care.

O then ever keep your garments

Whiter than the driven snow,

Wear the royal robes of heaven

While you tarry here below;

That through yonder pearly portals

Joyful entrance you may win,

Clothes in raiment cleaned forever

From the fingerprints of sin.

May God help us never to defile our royal robes of honour and glory with the dirt from the coal mines of this world in Jesus name. Amen

Good day and God bless you.

BLEEDING OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL

"When Jesus heard this, he said to them, “It is the sick people who need a doctor, not those who are healthy. I did not come to invite good people. I came to invite sinners”- Mark 2:17 (ERV)

 On 16th May 1998, a young man was shot in the chest while playing basketball. Immediately, his friends carried him close to the entrance of a nearby hospital and they went inside to seek for help. The hospital staff refused to help on the grounds that it was against their policy to administer aid to those outside the hospital. Finally, a policeman got a wheel chair and wheeled the man into the hospital where he was attended to by the hospital staff.  Unfortunately, it was rather too late, as the man eventually died  about an hour later. (Culled from An Introduction to Healthcare Organizational Ethics, Robert T. Hall).

 The Church is God's hospital on earth and Christians are His chosen staff on duty (John 15:16, Mark 2:17). Many helpless souls are bleeding outside the church and they may eventually die if Christians remain insensitive to their plight. The death of sinners is a huge loss to Humanity and God detest it vehemently (Ezekiel 33:11, 2 Peter 3:9). This is the reason why the Saviour mandated Christians to be actively involved in the rescue operations for souls till He returns (Matthew 28:19-20).

It is obvious that our churches are surrounded by people that desperately need to hear the Gospel, unfortunately, we are contented with sharing it only with those that manage to come inside the church. It is simply a case of "Souls are perishing outside while believers are amusing themselves in the church!" Like the hospital staff in the above story, we are simply giving flimsy excuses for neglecting our primary duty in the kingdom. This is quite pathetic!

Beloved, what excuse are you giving for not witnessing to lost souls? Don't you know that you will be held accountable for every bleeding soul that you refused to attend to or carry into the sick bay of faith (Ezekiel 33:6).

The chorus of this powerful hymn below re-echoes God's question in Isaiah 6:8 to believers in every generation:

PERISHING SOULS AT STAKE TODAY! By D.S. Warner (1885)

1. Perishing souls at stake today!

Says the banner of Christ unfurled;

Pleading in love for help to save

Blood-bought sinners all o’er the world.

Refrain:

      Perishing souls at stake, my brother,

      What is all this world beside?

      Perishing souls at stake, my brother,

      For whom the blessed Savior died;

      Perishing souls, perishing souls,

      Oh, who will help to save the lost?

2. Perishing souls at stake we see,

Yet the Savior has died for all;

Go and invite them earnestly,

Some will surely obey the call.

3. Perishing souls at stake today,

There’s a famine in all the land;

Many are dying for the bread

Freely given by Jesus’ hand.

4. Perishing souls at stake, go tell

What the Savior has done for you;

How He redeemed thy soul from hell,

And is able to save them, too.

5. Perishing souls at stake we know,

Oh, do pity the sinner’s fate!

Brother and sister, will you go,

Give them warning before too late.

6. Perishing souls at stake today,

Can you tarry for earthly dross?

Fly to the rescue, don’t delay,

Bring the needy to Jesus’ cross.

May God help us to be part of His dutiful and responsible staff in this generation. May He empower and use us mightily to rescue many bleeding souls around us from perishing in Jesus name, Amen.

THE TONGUE PATHOLOGY TEST

"There was a certain man in Maon.... He was very prosperous... The man’s name was Nabal (Fool), a Calebite, and his wife’s name was Abigail.." 1 Samuel 25:2 (MSG)

Whenever doctors want to examine their patients, they often ask them to stick out their tongues. This is a very important medical procedure required to unravel a patient's true state of health.

In 1 Samuel 25:2-32, Nabal was extremely rich, physically healthy but unknown to him, he was seriously sick internally. One day, when he stuck out his tongue for examination, the ten men from King David's palace were surprised to see the ugly lumps on Nabal's tongue. He failed the tongue pathology test of God woefully despite his possessions and social status. The condition of his tongue gave him out.

The Almighty God is smarter than all the medical doctors on earth put together. If doctors usually start their diagnosis by examining their patients' tongue, it will be a grave error for anyone to assume that God will not pay close attention to the condition of a man's tongue in ascertaining his true state of health. Yes, the Great Physician expects us to pass His tongue pathology test every day. This test will reveal whether a man is still walking on the narrow path or he has backslided. The test will also show one's level of spiritual maturity and devotion to God.

Unfortunately, many people in the world today may not pass the tongue pathology test of God. Like Nabal, they have placed more emphasis on the containers of their lives than its contents. They place more attention on their possessions and outward appearance than the condition of their tongues. The result of many people's  pathology test of the tongue will obviously show that they have  lumps and cancer in their heart and soul like Nabal. Although, they may look very healthy physically but they are sick internally.

"Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of Reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.”- Matthew 12:36-37 (MSG)

Friends, hope you are not failing the tongue pathology test of God like Nabal? Are there some lumps and cancer of bitterness, lies, arrogance, unforgiveness, anger, hatred, unbelief etc in the cubicle of your heart. Don't you know that if you die with those lumps you will go straight to hell? This means you have allowed your tongue to ruin your life on earth and in eternity. Please why not surrender your life to the Saviour - the Lord Jesus Christ today. If you do, the Great Physician will remove every lump in your heart and make you whole physically, spiritually, materially and emotionally in Jesus name. Amen.

THE TONGUE WITH ALL ITS POWER By James Montgomery

The tongue, the tongue, with all its powers,

Is Thine who made it, Thine, not ours;

Lord, teach us early to control,

That tameless tell-tale of the soul.

'Twas with the tongue, the serpent's wile

Did Eve's simplicity beguile;

'Twas with the tongue fall'n Adam tried,

His guilt behind her sin to hide.

The tongue's a sword, a two-edged sword,

To kill or quicken with a word;

A key to open and shut the heart,

To lock out knowledge or impart.

With it God's glory we proclaim,

With it blaspheme His holy Name;

Here good and evil strangely meet,

Hence bitter waters flow with sweet.

Lord, such confusion should not be;

Thou art all truth, all equity;

Pure from Thine hand the creature sprung,

But lost Thine image through the tongue.

Through it that image be restored;

Let tongues of fire that preach Thy Word,

Call, by Thy Holy Spirit's might,

Souls out of darkness into light.

May every attribute of Nabal (fool) in our souls and hearts be destroyed before this day is over. And may our tongues be set on fire to proclaim the good news and rescue sinners and backsliders from hell in Jesus name, Amen

Good day and God bless you.

THE BRIDLED TONGUE

"The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences" - Proverbs 18:21 (NLT)

Once upon a time, a king told one of his servants to bring him the best meat from the market. The servant brought him a tongue. The next day the king told the servant to bring him the worst meat from the market. The servant brought a tongue again. "What?" the king said. "When I asked for the best meat, you brought a tongue and then you brought the same thing for the worst meat." Then, the servant responded, "Sometimes a man is very unhappy because of his tongue and sometimes his tongue makes him very happy."

There is a muscle in the human body that can cause great heartache and pain, than all the other muscles put together. This muscle is responsible for most of the troubles, pains, betrayals, chaos, conflicts, strive, separations and divorces all over the world today. Fortunately, this same muscle has the tendency to produce ceaseless flow of joy, blessings, peace and victories whenever it is tamed and used properly. This muscle is known as "the tongue" (James 3:2-10)

"And so the tongue is a small part of the body yet it carries great power!... It can be compared to the sum total of wickedness and is the most dangerous part of our human body. It corrupts the entire body and is a hellish flame! It releases a fire that can burn throughout the course of human existence"- James 3:5-6 (TPT)

According to Matthew 15:18-19, there is a direct link between the output of a man's tongue and the state of his heart. The muscles of the tongue are wired to convert the content of the heart to words and transmit same to the world. Therefore, the easiest way to know the state of a man's heart is to pay close attention to the words that his tongue releases. If a man's heart is polluted, his tongue will be unruly, deceitful, boastful, arrogant, abusive etc. However, if a man's heart is renewed, his tongue will produce blessings, unity, peace and joy at all times.

"But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you. For from the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you.” Matthew 15:18-20 (NLT)

Friends, what type of words is your tongue releasing? Are they sweet or bitter? What is the state of your heart? Is it defiled or pure? Remember, it is impossible to get a clean water or good fruit from a polluted fountain or tree (Luke 6:43). God cannot tame your tongue unless you give Him access to your heart. It is simply a matter of the heart. That is why it is crucial that you surrender your heart completely to God for cleansing and sanctification today.

One hymn that re-echoes God's counsel in James 1:26 is titled "Bridle Your Tongue".

BRIDLE YOUR TONGUE By Olusegun Ogundare, Aug 13, 2020.

1. Even as thou walk on in journey of faith

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

So that thine religion ‘ll be acceptable

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

Chorus:

    Whoever that bridleth not his tongue

    His religion is even in vain

   The one that seeketh even to be perfect

   Has to even bridle his tongue

2. And if thou even willeth to be perfect

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

And then you ‘ll be able to govern thine body

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

3. Tongue is a little member in the body

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

So as not to set thine body on fire

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

4. Even tongue is a fountain in our body

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

It’s not good that a fountain produces two things

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

5. Oh Lord set a watch even before my mouth

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

Keep he door of my lips from evil words

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

6. Let the word of my mouth mix with thy grace

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

That is seasoned even with the salt of grace

Thou even have to bridle thine tongue

May God set a watch over our mouths and keep us from releasing polluted words that can set our destinies ablaze in Jesus name,  Amen.

Good day and God bless you.

THE MARGIN OF SAFETY

''Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you'' - 1 Corinthians 6:17

 There is an African fable about five inseparable friends - four fingers and a thumb who lived together on the same hand. One day, they noticed a gold ring lying next to them and conspired to take it. The thumb said it would be wrong to steal the ring, but the four fingers called him a self-righteous coward and threatened him. However, instead of bowing to their threat, the thumb decided to maintain a safe distance from them and all their unwholesome practices. This is why, the fable ends with this saying "the thumb still stands separate from the other fingers".

There are two types of people in the world - the fingers and the thumb. God expects a visible margin of safety to exist between these two sets of people in every generation (1 Corinthians 6:17, Psalms 1:1, Ephesians 5:11). Then, the question is, what does the fingers and thumb represent in this context?

The fingers represent people who lack the fear of God and can do anything to satisfy their personal appetite for riches and power. One of their popular slogan is ''It is not really bad, after all everyone is doing it''. These people are ready to mortgage their birthrights for a plate of pottage like Esau. They cut corners and engage in unwholesome practices just to meet their needs or to keep body and soul together.

On the other hand, the thumb represents people who value their right standing with God more than any earthly riches and power. They would rather loose their jobs or positions with their integrity intact rather than keep it or even get promoted without integrity. People around them may call them ''fools'' but they prefer that name than to have God shut the gate of eternity against them. These are people like Job, Daniel, Noah and Joseph who will rather die in purity than compromise their integrity for any earthly gains.

Beloved, which group do you belong to? Please be sincere with yourself. Are you a finger or a thumb? if you are a finger, then, you need to repent today. But, if you are a thumb, then, I say "a big congratulations to you!". But, please make conscious effort to maintain a  visible margin of safety between you and all the fingers around you. Please don't ever take the evil carrots the fingers are dangling before you. Always remember that anything acquired through dishonest means will definitely dwindle away (Prov 13:11, Jer 17:11).

''Wealth gotten hastily with iniquity will diminish; but he that gathers for himself with godliness shall increase..' - Prov. 13:11 (BST)

"Walking In Integrity" is the title of a wonderful song that describes how to maintain a visible margin of safety with the fingers in our world today.

 WALKING IN INTEGRITY

 Please, judge me, Lord, observe my loyalty;

Observe my trust in you and my integrity.

Examine me, and put me to the test;

My mind and heart refine,

That my soul might be blessed

Refrains:

      But as for me,

      Determined I shall be

      To walk eternally In my integrity.

I do not sit with wicked men of lies.

I hate the company of those who truth despise.

With evil men, take not away my life;

My soul, with those whose hands

Are full of bribes and strife.

May God help us to keep walking in integrity until we finish our race on earth in Jesus name, Amen.

THE HACHIKO'S MENTALITY

"Remember this: We are waiting for Jesus Christ to return to this world. When he comes, that will make us very happy. Everyone will see how great Jesus Christ is. He is our great God. He is the one who saves us from our sins" - Titus 2:13 (EASY)

In 1924, Eizaburo Ueno, a professor of agronomic engineering at Tokyo University, took a dog named Hachiko as a pet. The Professor went to work by train every day and Hachiko became his faithful companion. Every morning he accompanied him to the train station and in the afternoon he went back to meet him when he returned. The pair continued the daily routine until one fateful day when the professor did not return. He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while giving a lecture to his class. However, day after day, regardless of weather,  Hachiko kept going back to the train station at the same time the afternoon train was expected to arrive. For nine years, nine months and fifteen days, Hachiko waited faithfully for his master's return at the train station.

There are two categories of people in every generation. The first category are those who have enjoyed the companionship of their master and are eagerly waiting at the train station for Him to return. There is an unbreakable bond of loyalty and devotion between these set of people and their master. They have what I call "The Hachiko's Mentality" that Apostle Paul mentioned in Titus 2:13.

The second category of people are those who have wandered away from the train station of eternal life. They have no genuine encounter or their depth of devotion to the master is very shallow. Unfortunately, many people are in this category in every generation. Many have left the train station in search of fishes like Simon Peter. They have even succeeded in luring many careless ones along with them (John 21:3).

There are many Gehazi and Judas Iscariot in the kingdom today that their insatiable appetite for worldly gains has dragged them away from the train station (2 Kings 5:20-21). Some believe their master has died like Professor Ueno and will never return again.

"So, Gehazi followed after Naaman..." 2 Kings 5:21

Beloved, Unlike Professor Ueno who never returned to the train station to meet Hachiko, Jesus Christ will definitely return as he has promised us (Revelation 22:7,12). His coming is imminent. But the question is, will you still be waiting for Him patiently like Hachiko till He returns. I hope you have not wandered away like Simon Peter. Will Christ meet you at the train station when he returns?

 "..nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on earth?" Luke 18:8

One hymn that re-echoes the question that Jesus Christ asked in Luke 18:8 on the subject matter is titled "Will Jesus Find Us Watching "

WILL JESUS FIND US WATCHING by Fanny Crosby

1. When Jesus comes to reward His servants,

    Whether it be noon or night,

    Faithful to Him will He find us watching,

    With our lamps all trimmed and bright?

Refrain:

         O can we say we are ready, brother?

         Ready for the soul’s bright home?

         Say, will He find you and me still watching,

         Waiting, watching when the Lord shall come?

2. If, at the dawn of the early morning,

    He shall call us one by one,

    When to the Lord we restore our talents,

    Will He answer you, "Well done?"

3. Have we been true to the trust He left us?

    Do we seek to do our best?

    If in our hearts there is naught condemns us,

    We shall have a glorious rest.

4. Blessed are those whom the Lord finds watching,

    In His glory they shall share;

    If He shall come at the dawn or midnight,

    Will He find us watching there?

My prayer is that you and I shall never stray away from the train station until our master returns. The mercy of God that restored Simon Peter back to the train station shall locate and restore everyone who have wandered away before this week is over in Jesus name, Amen.

Good day and God bless you.

EXPECT AN AUGUST VISITOR

"The Lord told Moses, “Just watch! I'm going to rain down bread from heaven for you!... Exodus 16:4 (FBV)

In August 2020, residents of Olten, Switzerland, were startled to find that it was snowing chocolate! A malfunction in the ventilation system of the local chocolate factory had caused chocolate particles to be diffused into the air. As a result, a dusting of edible chocolate flakes covered cars and streets and made the whole town smell like a candy store.

What an August visitor of pleasant surprise in the town of Olten! I can imagine how surprised all the residents would have been on that day.

From the above story, it is obvious that God is still in the business of sending August visitors to people especially those who are at their wit's end. That was exactly what God did to the children of Israel in the wilderness. The Israelites slept one night hungry but woke up to receive an August visitor of bread in their houses. And this visitor stayed with them for forty years. What a testimony!

Beloved, the testimony of divine provision in Exodus 16:4 was not a fluke. Yes, God is still in the business of dispatching August visitors to his people who are seriously in need. God can do anything just to meet the needs of his people. He has the ability to turn the sky to bread factory and chocolate dispenser for a season. He can make any sophisticated equipment to malfunction for a while just to settle some people's need in their desert. God can tamper with the brain box of any engine or anyone on earth just to settle the needs of his children. That was exactly what God did to the Syrian troop that made them abandon all their belongings to the Israelites to inherit (2 kings 7:3-16). Our God is simply amazing! He can even engage the most stingy bird on earth to dispatch food to His people in the time of famine (1 Kings 17:2-16). Yes, what God cannot do does not exist indeed!

As the Lord lives, this month God will touch the brain box of someone on your behalf. He will cause something to malfunction in them so that the atmosphere around your home, business, career, marriage, health shall be filled with sweet aroma of chocolate flakes that your destiny requires in Jesus name. However, please note that you must first repent of your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour before this August visitor can locate you. Please do that today.

One hymn that re-echoes that fact that God can still rain down bread and chocolate of pleasant surprises upon us is titled "The Heavenly Manna Falling".

 THE HEAVENLY MANNA FALLING

 When out from Egypt's bondage

The chosen children fled,

And journeyed through the desert,

They fell in need of bread;

Their cries to heaven ascending.

From famine-stricken earth,

God showered down the manna,

Supplying all their dearth,

Refrain:

The heavenly manna's falling

Along the pilgrim's way,

And angel food's our portion,

While his word we obey;

Yes, heavenly manna's falling

Along the pilgrim's way,

And angel food's our portion,

While his word we obey.

We too, like them, are pilgrims

AIong the desert way

That leads through earth to heaven.

The laud of endless day;

And as we journey onward,

In answer to our calls,

In rich and full abundance

The manna daily falls.

Oh, bread sent down from heaven,

We'll ever feed on thee,

And trust our loving Father

For grace, abounding, free;

Till ends the pilgrim's journey,

And all our needs supplied.

We'll feast our souls in heaven,

With all the sanctified.

My prayer is that every day of this year and beyond,  God's manna shall continue to fall upon every wilderness situation around you. And Ravens shall release your daily needs until you see Christ in glory.

 On behalf of my esteemed father in the Lord - Pastor E.A  Adeboye, I will like to invite you to the 70th Annual Convention of the RCCG, with the theme: PERFECT JUBILEE. Date: 8th - 14th August 2022. Venue: Redemption Camp, Km 46, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Nigeria.

THE COLLECTOR'S MENTALITY

"After that, Jesus said to his followers, “You have to go out to everywhere in the world and tell everybody the good news about me"- Mark 16:15 (PEV)

Fritz Kreisler, the world-famous violinist, saw an exquisite violin on one of his trips, but he wasn’t able to buy it. After saving enough money, he returned to the seller with the hope of buying the beautiful instrument. But he was surprised that it had been sold to a collector. Kreisler made his way to the collector’s home and offered to buy the violin. The collector said it had become his prized possession and he would not sell it. Kreisler was keenly disappointed and was about to leave when he had an idea. “Could I play the instrument once more before it is consigned to silence?” he asked. Permission was granted, and the great virtuoso filled the room with such heart-moving music that the collector’s emotions were deeply stirred. “I have no right to keep that to myself,” he exclaimed. “It’s yours, Mr. Kreisler. Take it into the world, and let people hear it.” (Culled from: Our Daily Bread, February, 4, 1994)

There are two categories of believers in the kingdom - The Collectors and Distributors. The collectors gather valuable things about God but are unwilling to share them with others. They have archived God's redemption agenda for mankind in their hearts like a prized possession. They have stockpiled many beautiful evidence of God's faithfulness in their heads. Many hell bound souls would have been rescued if those archived items had been shared with them. But the self centred nature of the collectors would not allow them to share what they had collected with others. This is very pathetic!

However, the distributors are always ready to share what they have collected with everyone around them. They understand the terrible implications of being a collector (1 Cor. 9:16). They eagerly seek for opportunities to take the gospel to others without being coaxed.

"..It would be agony to me if I did not constantly preach the gospel!"- 1 Cor 9:16b (TPT)

It is unfortunate that the number of the collectors in every church is more than that of the distributors. Majority of Christians who go to church every week to collect sermons never bother to share what they learned with unbelievers around them. They are busy building up their Bible knowledge database and testimonies catalogues without paying any attention to the pitiable conditions of sinners around them. What a myopic lifestyle!

Dear brother, sister, deacon, deaconess, pastor, evangelist, apostle, prophet and bishop, I sincerely hope you are not a collector in the body of Christ. If you are, then, please repent today. You actually don't have any right to keep the Gospel to yourself. Please stop giving flimsy excuses for not sharing the good news with others.

One special hymn that summarizes a crucial instruction Jesus gave to His disciples in Mark 16:15 is titled "THE COMMISSION"

THE COMMISSION By Isaac Watts

1.“Go, preach My gospel,” saith the Lord.
“Bid the whole earth My grace receive.
Explain to them My sacred word;
Bid them believe, obey, and live.

2. “I’ll make My great commission known,
And ye shall prove My gospel true
By all the works that I have done
And all the wonders ye shall do.

3. “Go, heal the sick; go raise the dead;
Go, cast out devils in My name;
Nor let My prophets be afraid,
Though Greeks reproach and Jews blaspheme.

4. “While thus ye follow My commands
I’m with you till the world shall end;
All power is trusted in My hands;
I can destroy and can defend.”

May God destroy the collector's mentality in His church and energise us to take the gospel to the world as Christ commanded in Jesus name, Amen.

THE ACT OF PAYING HOMAGE TO THE KING

"Thank him as you go through the gates into his temple. Praise him as you stand in his temple yards. Thank him and praise him as he deserves!" Psalms 100:4 (EASY)

There is a story of a man who went to Alexander the Great to ask for some financial help. Alexander told the man to go to his treasurer and ask for whatever he needed. Few minutes later, the treasurer went to Alexander and told him he was hesitant to give the man what he asked for because he asked for an enormous amount. Alexander replied, “Give him what he asked for, he has treated me like a KING in his asking, and I shall be like a KING in my giving.”

One of the most potent force in the world is the power of prayer. God is always eager to answer the prayer of His subjects. It is exciting to see God responding positively to our requests in prayer. However, we must understand that prayers are not answered because of our flawless grammar, deep show of emotions or aggressiveness. God does not answer prayer on the basis of our colour, age, height, location, exposure or qualification. All the prayers that God answers are strictly based on some established prayer protocols that God laid down in the scripture.

"One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”  He said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come"- Luke 11:1-2 (NIV)

According to Luke 11:1-2, one of the established prayer protocol is the act of paying homage to the King. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines "homage" as  expressing high regard to someone, showing respect or attesting to the worth or influence of someone. As the King of all kings, God expects all His subjects to approach His throne at all times with the homage that is due to Him (Psalms 100:4).

As King of the whole universe, God loves to be eulogized and worshipped much more than any earthly king. The act of paying homage to God is the easiest way to open the floodgate of heaven for unprecedented outpour of victory, miracles, signs and wonders.

God cannot resist requests or petitions that are thoroughly garnished with ingredients of thanksgiving and praises served from a pure heart. Jesus Christ demonstrated this profound truth by organising a short banquet of praise service at the tomb of Lazarus (John 11:41). He chose to serve God his favourite meal before discussing Lazarus' matter with Him. And instantly, God commanded angels to send Lazarus back to life because Jesus had served the meal that God could not reject. What an amazing testimony!

Beloved, how have you being treating the King of kings? Have you been issuing command to Him as if He is your slave? Or you have been paying homage to Him. If you have been paying homage to God, please keep it up. The treasurer of heaven will soon visit your home to deliver those much awaited package of good news and joy you have been  asking for. As the Lord lives, before this year is over, all your secret requests will soon become open testimonies that will draw many souls into His kingdom.

One powerful hymn that re-echoes the act of paying homage to God is titled "Awake, Ye Saints to Praise Your King":

AWAKE, YE SAINTS TO PRAISE YOUR KING By Isaac Watts (1674 - 1748)

Awake, ye saints; to praise your king
Your sweetest passions raise,
Your pious pleasure, while you sing,
Increasing with the praise.

Great is the Lord, and works unknown
Are His divine employ;
But still His saints are near His throne,
His treasure and His joy.

O nations, know thy living God,
Serve Him with faith and fear;
He makes thy churches His abode,
And claims thine honors there.

May God kindly in our heart fresh fire of praise that will never quench until we reached the golden shore above in Jesus name.

Good day and God bless you.
