One day, a rabbit boasted about how fast he could run. He laughed at the tortoise for being so slow. Much to the rabbit’s surprise, the tortoise challenged him to a race. The rabbit thought this as a good joke so he gladly accepted the challenge. As the race began, the rabbit raced way ahead of the tortoise, just like everyone thought. The rabbit got to the halfway point and could not see the tortoise anywhere. He was tired and decided to stop and take a short nap. He thought, even if the tortoise passed him, he would still be able to race to the finish line ahead of him. All this time the tortoise kept walking step by step. He never quitted no matter how hot or tired he got, he just kept going. The rabbit on the other hand slept longer than he had thought. When he woke up, he could not see the tortoise in sight. He went at full-speed to the finish line but found the tortoise there waiting for him.
The ability to ‘’think big’’ or ‘’see the big picture’’ is another critical success factor in the race of destiny. God is not under any obligation to deliver anything that we cannot see or imagine. The tortoise dared to compete with such a very fast animal like the rabbit even when he knew his chances of winning the race was very slim. Why did he attempt such a herculean challenge? The tortoise was simply obeying the divine instruction enumerated in Isaiah 54:2-3. He was practically thinking big, dreaming big, acting big in order to get a big result. The tortoise had already reached the finish line in his mind long before the race started.
In 1 Samuel 17:1-54, God used the life of a perceived disadvantaged boy to reiterate this salient truth at the Valley of Elah. While all the men of Israel were thinking and acting cowardly, David was thinking, dreaming and acting big. Even before the battle began, he had already visualized himself winning the contest and being called the king's son-in-law. God eventually gave David with sweet victory over Goliath on that fateful day.
Beloved, I perceive God wants you and I to start thinking big, praying big, acting big, dreaming big, and expecting big result this year. Despite all the contrary news around us, if we dare to set our gaze on the big picture like the tortoise and David, all the rabbits who have gone ahead of us will congratulate us before this year is over.

This month, God will grant you sweet victory in the race of life as you begin to think, pray and act big. However, you must be in right standing with God at all times for your victory to be permanent.
