“I am coming soon. Hold on to the faith you have, so that no one can take away your crown" Revelation 3:11 (ERV)
On 5th October 1864, during the American civil war, the army led by General Hood gained control of the area occupied by the army led by Major W.T. Sherman. They destroyed the railways, burnt houses and captured some garrisons. Major Sherman’s men were eventually surrounded and asked to surrender but they refused hence, a fight started. They were driven into a small fort on the crest of the hill and there were many casualties. Then, one of Major Sherman’s officers caught sight of a white signal flag on top of a Mountain nearby with the inscription: ‘‘Hold The Fort; I’m Coming by W. T. Sherman”. This statement encouraged them to keep holding on until their long-awaited reinforcements eventually arrived and General Hood and his army were forced to retreat.
God intentionally inserts some white signal flags on pages of the scriptures to guide His soldiers to victory in the battles of life. Those white signal flags represent various divine instructions and promise that Heaven is waving to man. Everyone who believes and obeys what is written on the flags will definitely laugh last like Major Sherman’s soldiers. The inscriptions are very clear, simple, and easy to understand. They are divine tools for humanity's complete emancipation and are not subject to any form of debate or argument.
For example, in Luke 19:13, Jesus Christ waved a white signal flag with the inscription ‘Occupy Till I Come’ to His disciples. This same flag was waved to the entire human race through John the beloved on the Island of Patmos (Rev. 1:7, 2:25, 22:12 & 20). This signal flag reaffirms the fact that the commanding officer of believers will soon show up as He has promised like Major Sherman.

At such times like this, when the battle of life is getting tougher every passing hour and day, we must pay close attention to what is written on the white signal flag. Now that there are more causalities on the road of faith than ever before, we must always remind ourselves that the one who enlisted us will soon return with our rewards and victories.
Beloved, events unfolding in the world today clearly attest to the fact that the second coming of Jesus Christ is at hand. Therefore, there is a need to hold on to what we have received tenaciously so that we will not lose our crown (Rev 3:11). This is the defensive posture God expects every genuine believer to take in the battle of life till Christ returns (Jude 1:3-4).

One powerful hymn that describes the white signal flag that God is waving to humanity is titled: ‘Hold The Fort’:

I pray that when our great commander and blessed hope shall appear in His glory and splendor, you and I will be among those victorious armies who will march triumphantly out of this world with Him (Titus 2:13, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
