CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR – 5

‘’Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom! Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding! Throw your arms around her—believe me, you won’t regret it; never let her go—she’ll make your life glorious. She’ll garland your life with grace, she’ll festoon your days with beauty” - Proverbs 4:3‭-‬9 (MSG)

One day, a rabbit boasted about how fast he could run. He laughed at the tortoise for being so slow. Much to the rabbit’s surprise, the tortoise challenged him to a race. The rabbit thought this as a good joke so he gladly accepted the challenge. As the race began, the rabbit raced way ahead of the tortoise, just like everyone thought. The rabbit got to the halfway point and could not see the tortoise anywhere. He was tired and decided to stop and take a short nap. He thought, even if the tortoise passed him, he would still be able to race to the finish line ahead of him. All this time the tortoise kept walking step by step. He never quitted no matter how hot or tired he got, he just kept going. The rabbit on the other hand slept longer than he had thought. When he woke up, he could not see the tortoise in sight. He went at full-speed to the finish line but found the tortoise there waiting for him.

Another critical success factor in the race of life is wisdom. In Proverbs 4:3-9, the Bible describes wisdom as an indispensable tool in the journey to the place of glory and honour in life. This is very profound! It simply implies that life will be void of colourful evidences without the manifestation of the wisdom of God in the life of a man. Then, the question is how do we know if someone is actually running the race of life with this critical success factor or not?

‘’..but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise’’ - 2 Corinthians 10:12

According to 2 Corinthians 10:12, one of the ways to know if anyone is truly running the race of life with wisdom is by examining the person's disposition to his/her co-runners. The Bible says those who compare themselves with others simply lacks wisdom. For example, the rabbit in the above story lacked wisdom because he was busy using the tortoise’s speedometer as his benchmark instead of focusing on the finish line. No wonder he eventually finished badly.

Beloved, please don't run your own race looking at another person's speedometer. Stop those evil comparism. It is simply a sign of foolishness. Please stop those unhealthy rivalry and competition with co-runners in the race of life. Don't compare your progress with that of your colleagues/ friends/neighbours. If you do, you may likely finish your race on the losing side like that foolish rabbit. Rather, please keep your gaze firmly on the great author and mighty finisher of the race who is also known as the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24, Hebrews 12:2). But if you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, please do so now. This is a crucial step in accessing the wisdom of God.

This wonderful hymn below further describes how to access God's wisdom on earth (Proverbs 9:10):

WHERE CAN ONE LOOK FOR WISDOM? By Susan H. Peterson, 1997

Where can one look for wisdom?

Where understanding find?

Man does not grasp its value—

More than can be mined.

It can’t be bought with finest gold,

Silver, or jewels so rare.

Priced far beyond all rubies,

Nothing can compare.

Where then does wisdom come from?

Where understanding dwell?

God comprehends the pathway,

He alone knows well.

He views the ends of all the earth;

He sees the world He formed.

He has established wisdom,

Tested and confirmed.

Fear of the Lord is wisdom;

Seek it and you will find.

Cry out for understanding;

Let it fill your mind.

Search as for hidden treasure;

Look for it every day.

This is the path to wisdom;

Follow all the way.

May God engrave His fear in our hearts to trigger the baptism of the spirit of wisdom in its full measure in Jesus name, Amen

Good day and God bless you.

Maranatha!
