Another crucial lesson I perceive the Lord would like to draw our attention to is the fact that the Raven missed a very special opportunity to become a star for God that year. Being selected to go out of the ark first was a special privilege. There were several other species of birds in the ark that were not chosen by God for the assignment. It was indeed a rear opportunity for the Raven to become a pioneer on earth. She would have become the first bird to harvest the new grass that grew after the whole earth had been submerged by flood. The Raven's name would have entered the Guinness Book of Record that year. In fact, the Raven would have received "The Bird of the Year Award" for her meritorious service in the re-settlement agenda of God for man on earth. Unfortunately, the Raven missed that glorious opportunity.
Then, the question is, why did the Raven miss such a glorious opportunity? The answer can be found in Genesis 8:6. The Holy Spirit affirms that the Raven was just going to and fro on the earth. That is, this bird was flying aimlessly around instead of working hard towards achieving a definite goal. What an unserious lifestyle?
After several days of gallivanting around, the Raven eventually discovered she was threading on a dangerous path. Then, the consequences of her aimless adventure became more obvious when she saw the Dove being celebrated as she flew back into the ark with leaves in her mouth. The Raven must have felt so bad but it was already too late. She had carelessly traded her place of honour in the ark of destiny with the Dove and there was nothing anyone else could do about it. She had really messed up!
Unfortunately, many of us have started flying aimlessly in the sky of 2026 like the Raven. The month of January is almost gone and many of us still do not have any clear roadmaps or goals for the journey of 2026. Rather, we are running from pillar to post aimlessly like the Raven. We admire all the Doves (High Fliers) around us but we are not ready to pay the price that make those individuals stand out among their contemporaries. Like the Raven, we want to eat our cake and still have it at the same time. What a careless and dangerous way to live?.
Beloved, flying in the sky of 2026 aimlessly like a Raven is a very sure recipe for disaster. But it is not too late now to prayerfully set targets/goals for yourself and family - spiritually, financially, academically, socially this year. Then, let us be ready to roll up our sleeves to work and pray hard till our dreams become reality this year.
May God induct us into the league of Doves (High Fliers) who shall return into the ark of 2026 with our remarkable testimonies this year. And may we never miss any opportunity God wants to use to showcase His faithfulness to the world through us this year in Jesus name, Amen.
